This Poor Little Dog Has Finally Found A Home, But He Can't Seem To Walk Through The Front Door
Boomer has already survived more than most dogs ever should, and now he is learning what it means to have a front door of his own. The pit bull mix went from sleeping on cold concrete to being rescued just before a Texas snowstorm, but even after getting to safety, he still seemed unsure about the life waiting for him inside.
Samantha Zimmer, a dog rescuer, helped track down Boomer after a fellow animal lover asked for help with a group of homeless dogs. Once the weather turned dangerous, the team moved fast to get three dogs to safety, including Boomer, who was so nervous that he had to be humanely trapped.
What happened next was sweet, awkward, and a little heartbreaking, because Boomer did not immediately know that home was supposed to be the easy part.
We finally caught him safely
It was evident that the streets hadn't been kind to this little pup. Upon examination by the vet, he tested positive for heartworm disease, had severe wounds on one leg, and there were signs that he had been shot previously.
Worst of all, it was heartbreaking to see the fear in Boomer's eyes, not knowing if it was okay to walk into Samantha's house.
Watch his reaction at the front door
"We just carried him inside most of the time."
Over the past month, Samantha has been trying to wriggle her way into Boomer's heart. Each day, she has made an effort to reassure him that he's safe and will always have a place to call home.
This is just like the abandoned puppy who waited in the woods for weeks, hoping someone would come.
He finally walked in
Gradually, Boomer is starting to see that not only are there people in the world who want him, but these new friends will never leave his side. Now he gently walks in, looking to Samantha for approval.
He also loves to cuddle up on the sofa and enjoy some quality snuggles with his new friends.
All snuggled up

Samantha believes that Boomer is too sweet and loving for anyone to resist. She's optimistic that he can easily find a family of his own at the right time.
And for now, the front door is no longer the scary part.
Heartworm, wounds, and fear at the door? Then see how a cemetery stray finally got back on his feet: the dog missing most of his fur who could barely walk.
